The Premium Tier, Line by Line
Two versions of GTA 6 are up for pre-order: the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Per Mashable and Engadget, that extra $20 buys access to five exclusive shops — Sara's Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, Rideout Customs Mod Shop, Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor (over 50 designs from the art collective FAILE) and One-Eyed Willie's off-road mod shop — plus two exclusive side-mission lines: the PTT Youngin$ compound, a gang stronghold you raid for contraband, and the Classic Car Collection, a string of restoration jobs from a fixer named Wyman.
Three vehicles come only with the Ultimate Edition: the '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Shitzu Squalo (Engadget calls it an explosive-loaded jet ski, Mashable a boat) and the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy. Add the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, custom engravings on Jason and Lucia's sidearms, and the Vice City Styles and Goodtime Gear outfit packs. Pre-order bonuses: the Vice City Vintage pack and a free month of GTA+.
Is It Worth It?
No early access — Engadget notes everyone gets in at the same time, and Rockstar says the bonuses are "threaded" through the game and "uncovered behind each chapter" rather than dumped on day one. You can upgrade from Standard to Ultimate for $20 any time after launch, so there's no rush.
Buyers don't seem to care: Sensor Tower data cited by Engadget puts the Ultimate Edition at 88.5% of PlayStation pre-orders and 90% on Xbox, against the 10-20% a typical premium edition manages. Make the call with the list in front of you — not the hype.
